Description

haven't posted anything for quite a while now, but i ain't dead yet. (shoot me again ;))

so here's my newest one - the czech š100 was in production from 1969 to 1974. this one is the standard 1972 version with the new fuel tank cap. (earlier versions had just the exposed nozzle with a screw-cap)

the license plate is a gdr-variant, with S for district leipzig.

the text in the lower right corner is in german, as i plan to print and enframe this one for my grandfather, who had one of those cars and really liked it despite its not exactly been known to be a reliable car. people in eastgermany used to call those "bms-fahrzeug", with fahrzeug meaning vehicle and bms standing for "böhmisch mährischer schnellroster" or in englisch: "bohemian-moravian-quickcorroder"

the text says:

1972 š100
engine type: 4-stroke otto engine
engine location: rear
cylinders: 4
layout: in-line engine
engine displacement: 988 cm³
output: 35 kW / 48 hp
max. torque: 71 Nm
weight: 805 kg
max. velocity: 124 km/h

now for all of you who are either north american or otherwise have an affinity for completely insane and irrational measuring units: 124 km/h are about 77 mph, cm³ is the sane way of writing cc or ccm, and 988 cm³ equals about 60 cubic inches i believe. 805 kg are about 1775 lbs, and don't expect me to calculate 35kW in ft lbf/min or whatever mad units you might use for power output - i care for my sanity. but i digress ... ;)

done with blender, luxrender and gimp (open source ftw!)

render time by now is about 12 hours, but i will update to a cleaner version once its at 60 or so, so check back in a few days if you like.

edit: updated with the 30h version. but afterwards my renderer crashed, so there will not be another one.
i might want to consider not using development releases all the time.

Were the Polish FSO cars popular in the East Germany? I'm just curious. :)
