Naburis Cyclone

so here's another one:

i was playing around a bit with triexporter and eve online models, and when i showed my progress to my corp (for you non-eve-people: it's a clan, really) one of my corpmates said, she'd like to have one of those on her desk. and so she got it - a cyclone on a desk.

extracted the shipmodel and textures with triexporter, split and enhanced the textures with gimp, made the mouse, ballpens etc in blender and rendered it with luxrender.

rendertime was about 20h, could have let it work a little longer, but i'm not that patient.

Update!

i had some cpu-time to spare, and so i rendered it for ~150 hours, using a different renderer/sampler (exphotonmap/low discrepancy before, bidirectional/metropolis now) for a better, cleaner result. the mouse is still a bit noisy, but i made it a high scattering material to resemble the look of grey-ish transparent rubber, and it would take ages to get it completely clean, and it's only background anyway.
